Releasing the Weight of Work

There comes a time where we wake up and realize that we aren't living our dreams, we are living a lie.

We work hard, we strive, we overproduce, we sacrifice, we wake up on autopilot, and keep going through the motions even though we are unhappy and are feeling lost and empty on the inside.

We look to others for inspiration and only feel judgement.

We look at ourselves and we don't even recognize the person we've turned into.

We deprive, we restrict, we abuse, we numb, we buy, we consume, and still nothing fills the deep void from within.

We don't think that there will ever be an end to the misery until we sit with ourselves and get real honest with ourselves.

Your truth might be very different from my truth, but as a little girl I wanted to be a mother.

I wanted to live a simple life and I wanted to make a lot of money.

But one day that pursuit of making more money consumed my entire life.  From the minute I woke up in the morning, to every moment of the day all I thought about was my work, my business, what to eat, what to wear, what I needed to get done, marketing, sales, social media, and it was a bad addiction.

I didn't realize it at the time but this addiction to my work was slowly killing me.

It was robbing me of my life and my happiness until one day I decided to stop working and I started to honour what my heart and soul was truly trying to tell me.

Which was to stop, rest, and to truly take care of myself and my family and let God take care of me and provide for me.

It was like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.  All of the pressure, stress, responsibility, personal shame, guilt, frustration, exhaustion, and regret I was carrying on the inside was all gone and I no longer had to carry the burden of having the weight of the entire world on my shoulders.

It was liberating.

It was freedom.

So you might be thinking now what?

Well, you live.

You get back to being yourself.

You let go, surrender, and trust.

You decide that you're no longer willing to stay someplace you don't belong and you believe in yourself and something bigger.

You see, a lot of people think that by having more money in the bank that will suddenly make them happier, healthier or more secure, and that’s simply not the case.

The real riches of life are not found outside of yourself or in things that can easily be taken away from you like in a house, a job, a career, a title, a relationship, or more money.  Real riches are found in the spirit.

It’s waking up and having the power to choose. It’s having the luxury and the time freedom to lay in bed a little longer and enjoy your fresh clean bed sheets.

It’s being happy, grateful, and having energized people in your life.

It's inner peace.

It’s having a clean and safe environment for your children to grow up in.

It’s having the right mindset and knowing that you hold the power to create anything you want in your life.

It’s knowing who you are and not being in competition with anyone.

It’s being free of all addictions.

It’s not being told what to do, what to wear, what to say, or when to show up.

It’s having incredible people in your life who always support you, believe in you, and encourage you to be your best.

It’s looking in the mirror and truly loving and accepting the person you see without the need of makeup or other fancy things.

It’s being excited and enthusiastic about your life and where you are headed.

It’s health and wholeness.

It’s purpose, meaning, connection, joy and service to yourself first and foremost and then extending that love outward.

It’s being kind, generous and accepting to every single person you meet and loving them regardless of what they look like or where they’ve been.

It’s love, and yes of course having money in the bank too!

Those are the real riches of life.

In my travels I have met many people who have a lot of money, and a lot of nice things but they don’t have a lot of life or true happiness, health or loving connected relationships.

I have also met a lot of people who look as if they don’t have much on the outside but have the whole world locked up inside their own heart and soul, and that my friends is where the truth power lies.

So if you’re reading this, know that more money will never make you truly rich in life.

But having a heart of gold will.  Be a good person.  Do the right thing even when no one else is looking and the riches will come right to you with little to no effort or striving.   All you gotta do is be worthy enough to receive it and believe it.
