Maybe Your Mother Was Wrong

In my younger years, I remember collecting a lot of things.

Popples.  Treasure Trolls.  Lip Glosses.  Wallets and Purses.  Shoes.  I guess now it's Labubu dolls, Summer Friday's Lipgloss, Louis Vuitton and Sneakers.

One of my favourite memories as a kid was going out with my dad and he’d buy me whatever I wanted.

Yup, that’s right.

I had my dad “wrapped around my little finger”, and I remember my mom saying that all the time, as if it was a bad thing. I knew that if I asked, and perhaps kept asking, my dad would get me whatever I wanted from the store.

I laugh now about going to Canadian Tire and having my eyes on a random calligraphy set. I was probably 8 or 9 years old, but it looked so cool. Dipping that pen in ink and learning to write with a fancy pen. I wanted it and sure enough, I got it.

Did I use it?

Perhaps maybe for a day. Just like most kids and toys.

Was it a “waste of money?” Looking back now as a writer that memory is still with me and it makes me smile. So no. I don’t believe it was a waste of money. Nothing is a waste of money if it brings you or someone else joy.

From calligraphy pens, to Popples, to Treasure Trolls, lipglosses, to candy, I knew that if I went with my dad to the store, there was probably a 100% chance I’d get what I wanted.

And that’s how God works too. Or the Universe, or Source, or Manifesting… Whatever you want to call it.

You ask. It is given.

But if you keep asking, bugging, crying, stressing about how much it costs, feeling unworthy to receive it, you’re probably not going to get it, and that is the magic of your own mindset, your own belief system, and your own energy levels.

While I was the youngest and got everything I wanted, I also had so many other voices in the back of my head that I needed to learn how to drown out.

…What do you need that for?

…You already have so many shoes.

…Why do you need anymore for?

…You’re just wasting your money.

…You’re spoiled and ungrateful.

I grew up wondering what was right and what was wrong.  I grew up having to unlearn a lot of things.

I mean… I saw other people having closets full of shoes and they too only had a need for a single pair.  Why could they have it, and I couldn't?  What was so wrong with wanting more or having a collection of pretty things to look at even if they sat on a shelf?

I also later grew up and found myself judging, condemning or criticizing others.

What the hell do they need all of that for?  That's such a waste of money.  No. No. No.

Then I became a mother and saw my younger self in my own children's eyes.  Wanting everything, loving everything and how could I say no.

Were they "spoiled" "greedy" "out of touch with reality" "better than everyone else" or "ungrateful"?.

Did they need to earn it first?

Did they need to justify or explain why they wanted it?

Or were they more connected to Source/God/Universe and actually knew better?

We'll go with that option... They were connected and correct in their thinking and belief system.

And that is the trap that 1,000,000% blocks flow and abundance from coming into anyones life.  It's abandoning, neglecting and denying our own true self of our own wants, needs, and desires.

It’s judging, commenting, or criticizing others for what they have, how they spend their money, how they choose to share what they have, what they do with their time, what they choose to do with their life, making comments about what you think they need or don’t need.

Like we’re the judges and the creators of their own world. Newsflash. We’re not, and it’s absolutely none of our business or our concern to even worry about.

Each one of us is here to make the most of ourselves. Period.

We are all an unique and divine expression of God. That’s the truth, and that life force is wanting to express itself through each and every one of us. While one expression might only like 1 pair of shoes to wear on repeat, some expressions like options and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Neither is good nor bad. It just is.

No one really knows what a person needs or wants. No one really knows what each person is here to do or express in this lifetime, and it’s not for anyone to judge, criticize or condemn.

In fact, it’s not a matter of need.

It’s a matter of want when it comes to life.

Life is wanting to express itself fully and freely through each of us, and our job is not to block the flow or create any resistance to that force, for when you do, you’ll be in pain and will be suffering. Perhaps you’ll even be miserable and judgmental as you look upon others who have more than you do and wonder why.

But here’s the catch. Growing up, I sometimes would find myself justifying my wants and needs or explaining my situation to others.

Well… I have really wide feet Mom, and I have a really hard time finding shoes that fit. So anytime I find a pair, I buy them… or 3 for that matter.”

And here’s what you need to know as someone who is creating the absolute best life possible for themselves.

You can have as many fucking pairs of shoes as you want. Period. You can have as many lipglosses, perfume bottles, purses, or Labubu dolls as you want.

God is not withholding anything and you’re not greedy, selfish, wrong, or ungrateful for wanting more.

In fact, if your heart and soul wants more shoes, you absolutely can have them, and not giving them to yourself is a form of self-rejection.

Sure, you only really need 1 pair, but if you choose to have 10, 100, or 1000 pairs to add to your collection, there’s also nothing wrong with that either.

So to all those girls out there with their fine collections of Treasure Trolls, Popples, purses, shoes, lip gloss, and whatever else you want to collect and whatever else makes you happy…. Good on you. You’re doing it right and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.

You get one life to live. Make it the most magical one.
